The US based actor Aidan Moreno is in the Netflix series Heartland. After playing the character "Rick" since 2007, they decided to include an LGBTQ+ storyline on the show and was on the receiving end of a massive homophobic backlash from viewers to the show on US and Canadian network TV.Series 16 of the show dropped on Netflix this week and Aidan has been in the UK talking about the response of north american viewers to the queer storyline.He also appeared in UK media this week on Good Morning Britain and across the tabloid press after being reported as saying "straight actors should not play queer roles". But there's so much more to this statement than a tabloid article or five minute chat on breakfast TV, so we talked it through and unpacked the lot.
