The man who took on GB News: Liam Rondi

Show notes

When Liam Rondi watched a GB News panel discuss the murder of a baby and heard a guest claim that gay men are more likely to abuse the children they adopt, he was sitting in his flat in the south of France, a country he had moved to two years earlier partly to get away from the direction Britain was heading in. He picked up his phone, recorded a rebuttal and told people how to complain to Ofcom. Within a week there were 1,300 complaints, and by the time Caroline Farrow had appeared on Alex Armstrong Tonight to link Pride with paedophilia, and Bimini had built a complaints generator, the total had passed 15,000 and Ofcom had opened two investigations into the channel.

In this episode he talks about the trope that is older than he is, why an apology broadcast two weeks after the fact reaches almost nobody who saw the original, what it is like to fight your own country's battle from abroad with no newsroom, no organisation and no lawyer behind you, and why, for all the invitations he expects never to receive, he would point blank refuse to go on GB News.

Ofcom's investigations into both broadcasts are ongoing. GB News says it complies fully with the Broadcasting Code and will robustly defend them.

00:00:00: Some people don't let things go, really.

00:00:03: I used to think that i held onto a grudge and i do.

00:00:07: but um some people take it to the next level and are just so good at holding a grudge And they hold their grudges for society!

00:00:15: That's what keeps the world going.

00:00:17: One of them is Liam Rondie.

00:00:22: He decided he was upset about something he heard on GB News.

00:00:29: What happened is absolutely glorious.

00:00:33: Tens of thousands

00:00:34: of complaints to AFKOM.

00:00:36: What happened to baby Preston, that's completely and utterly depraved... ...and unthinkable but it also not an excuse to be homophobic.

00:00:51: You know when this awful story was in the news earlier this week?

00:00:54: I had my mum visiting us here in France And i said This will absolutely be used as an excuse to discriminate against gay people.

00:01:01: And lo and behold is happening, bang on schedule!

00:01:03: I saw a video from Adam Frisbee yesterday.

00:01:05: he's the same sex parent who two months ago posted a video asking people to sign a petition so that people like him can legally be recognized As their own child parents.

00:01:14: That same video has been flooded with comments this week With people saying things along the lines of... ...this wrong not after baby Preston what's wrong with you etc.

00:01:22: etc.

00:01:23: blah blah blah.

00:01:23: And i just think Are you all fucking stupid?

00:01:26: It is baffling to me that so many people think these two men did this because they were gay.

00:01:30: I can assure you the evil does not have a sexuality, do you know how?

00:01:33: i know that?

00:01:33: Because when a strength man murders his child which happens in the UK week after week after fucking weak Not one of you floods the comments demanding we ban heterosexuals from having kids.

00:01:42: But bluntly if your directing your anger at gay people as monolith Instead of the systems in the UK that keep routinely failing people, you're just wasting your breath.

00:01:50: So... Yes I did!

00:01:53: There's a commentator on GB News going by their name based Ambuji who this week told A National Audience that gay men are statistically more likely to essay their adopted children.

00:02:06: Absolutely.

00:02:07: For example, I saw half naked men with their excuse me for using my language balls hanging out whilst the children around.

00:02:12: that's absolutely degenerate.

00:02:13: Generic is a very very negative conversation.

00:02:15: regardless this way terrible pedigree with regards to gay men.

00:02:18: Can i be completely honest with you?

00:02:19: I don't really care just because I meant what I said.

00:02:21: It was a great

00:02:21: twenty-sixth view.

00:02:22: Yeah!

00:02:22: I'm talking about THE degenerates You ever want to assume?

00:02:25: yeah whoever wants to assume?

00:02:26: now im talking all gay people.

00:02:27: if that makes you unreasonable yeah whoever likes to assume then go make yourself unhappy and think Im talking about YOU but im talkin bout the degenerates idk how much more.

00:02:34: so clear that up before I carry on, i'm using the term SA not to minimize the act but make sure this video doesn't get suppressed.

00:02:41: Anyway she said it's a statistic that has been proven time and again when I go online after this.

00:02:47: So, i went on-line to her accounts To find the receipts and evidence that she promised.

00:02:51: Let me tell you what I found And What I didn't.

00:02:53: Her claim live on air On one of the UK's biggest news channels Was twofold That gay men are more prone to sexual deviancy And More likely to essay their adopted children.

00:03:02: Now that is a big claim Which should be pretty simple to evidence If it has been proven time & again.

00:03:07: So, here are the actual statistics.

00:03:09: The landmark study which is from Pediatrics in nineteen ninety-four studied every single child essay case at a major children's hospital over year.

00:03:17: out of two hundred and sixty nine cases they reviewed Two of the perpetrators were gay or lesbian.

00:03:23: too Cool attendees I think.

00:03:24: if you've tried to do it Is that right?

00:03:26: Yes i did.

00:03:27: When Faraj says jumped Labour might say how high.

00:03:32: And its not true.

00:03:32: Its offering people false hope.

00:03:35: Sex.

00:03:36: Fating apps have become a breeding ground for the worst of human behaviours.

00:03:51: This is Outcast

00:03:53: World The right-wing media, it's making claims again that... I know there has been people said this happened in the eighties and nineties.

00:04:06: quite a bit older than you, I'm in my mid-forties and i don't remember the kind of debate that is currently happening on the likes of GB News happening in the nineties.

00:04:16: Quite as ruthlessly it comes off the back of that appalling case of um... The young boy who was murdered by his adopted parents.

00:04:30: And obviously I guess there was going to be some sort of pushback, but i could never have imagined how appalling it was.

00:04:38: You saw the same story as us and you put GB News on didn't ya?

00:04:43: So yes!

00:04:44: I was paying attention to the same case as you... ...and I was noticing a very sharp and quick rise in homophobic conversations happening around here especially around gay men & their proximity to children whether or not they were safe.

00:05:00: for me, as you say it does echo back to the the eighties and the nineties but I wasn't really around.

00:05:05: i wasn't around to experience it back then.

00:05:07: so...I came out almost a decade ago and i've never really experienced much pushback or anything like that!

00:05:16: So um..it was very shocking to hear these conversations happening on primetime tv and on social media for example Keeping track of the conversation, I wondered what GB News might have had to say about it because i know that very often they're keen to jump on these kind of issues and... ...I wanted to see if they'd handle the conversation with perhaps a measured approach compared to usual.

00:05:43: And so I went and sought out The Segment.

00:05:45: Of course They did speak About It!

00:05:47: ..and they spoke about whether gay men should be allowed to adopt and on the panel was based in Bougie, who is a Christian right-wing commentator.

00:05:57: And she made the claim that gay men are statistically more likely to sexually abuse their adopted children which obviously that straight away sort of rang alarm bells for me... ...and I went and checked the statistics myself afterwards after the broadcast.. ..and found no statistics at all backing up that claim.

00:06:16: there are many to the opposite but none backing up That claim that Gay Men Are More Likely.

00:06:21: so I made a simple TikTok video basically putting the clip of that segment front and center, And urging people to complain to Ofcom.

00:06:43: when something is aired that you disagree with, you complain.

00:06:46: And it's a very boring process and I know a lot of people probably aren't inclined to want to do it because it takes time.

00:06:53: but lo and behold in our first week we gathered one thousand three hundred complaints which for me... That was an unprecedented number!

00:07:00: Because again before all this i didn't really have much of a platform or any kind of influence.

00:07:05: It was just People resonated With what I was saying and obviously found it as appalling As I did so heartwarming in a way to see how many people rallied behind it just that first week and realised this kind of rhetoric isn't acceptable, especially not on this day or age.

00:07:22: So... That's where all started!

00:07:26: And I guess it ended up snowballing from there beyond anything i had expected or planned.. I didn't really plan the campaign whatsoever at the very beginning.

00:07:35: It was one TikTok video but I hoped would reach the right audience reach a consequence, but no consequences have been reached yet.

00:07:46: But certainly this campaign has been beyond anything that I had

00:07:49: anticipated.".

00:07:50: So i add um crystal from uh.

00:07:53: formerly of Drag Race on...on the show a few months ago and they had an argument with Lawrence Fox about the very similar line-of attack which is becoming very popular at the far right And it's the same one that was deployed on GB News when you watched it.

00:08:12: It is the same as being deployed against you online by certain individuals, what about this particular smear hit so hard?

00:08:22: I think because there are such a deep and painful history behind it... ...because we've said this isn't new claim or conflation.

00:08:32: This has been around for Many, many years.

00:08:35: this trope is older than I am.

00:08:37: And so... ...I think when people reach for that insult straight away in the face of conflict or debate or anything it's just painful because there is that history behind it and people are aware of that.

00:08:50: you know?

00:08:50: It's not a secret!

00:08:51: I think it is the first thing that People Reach For When it comes to gay men.

00:08:55: So i think its just-it IS A CHEAP SHOT AND I THINK YOU KNOW PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW BETTER IN THIS DAY AND AGE THAN TO BELIEVE IT at face value, but unfortunately people do.

00:09:05: So when people are throwing that accusation out left right and centre I think it weakens it personally.

00:09:12: But for some people they will just believe it of face-value whether It's about one particular person Whether its me or crystal Or if it is a whole demographic game.

00:09:21: in general.

00:09:21: There are some people including GB News' audience who might buy it.

00:09:25: I know certainly in my case, like when that accusation was made against me there were people in the comments agreeing because they didn't have full context.

00:09:36: And so... When their presented with one claim and want to believe it then will.

00:09:42: That's what dangerous about is isn't really much?

00:09:46: stop people from throwing out and putting them into harm way.

00:09:50: It's one of most harmful and dangerous and disgusting accusations you can make.

00:09:56: Yeah, I think people know for well what they're doing when they throw it against gay men whether it is an individual or as the community.

00:10:04: There's something

00:10:05: particularly pernicious about using hijacking a child's murder in order to bring this completely unfounded nonsense into the public sphere and it seems to have come with very limited consequences for them.

00:10:24: You've said that, now seem to come dressed as debate.

00:10:29: What did you mean by this?

00:10:30: This is the argument I think pertains through a lot of GB News's output And i think A LOT OF THE TIME when they try defend things on their channel They reach for debate and free speech...and uh..I get what they're saying.

00:10:45: but at the same time A lot of these really dangerous harmful claims are dressed up in the face of debate and it's treated as a fair opinion, whereas... ...a lot of time you know just outright claiming that gay men are more likely to abuse their children.

00:10:59: That isn't an opinion!

00:11:00: That is they-that is an obvious claim.

00:11:03: that has very dangerous consequences if people believe it.

00:11:07: And then same goes for what was said about Pride a couple weeks later by Caroline Farrow.

00:11:11: again It wasn't said as an opinion.

00:11:15: It was

00:11:15: like influencer, isn't it?

00:11:17: Yes

00:11:18: indeed yes.

00:11:20: and obviously she said that pride is not about gay rights but is about celebrating all different kinds of kinks and quirks including bestiality and pedophiles.

00:11:30: And so obviously as a gay man I've been to many Pride events.

00:11:33: i went on this year my local one here in France and I didn't see anything of the sort.

00:11:38: Of course, i didn't.

00:11:39: but it just goes to show that when you dress up on a licensed news channel as part of a measured debate no matter how much people want to challenge it which in both these cases would argue neither of those claims were challenged sufficiently whatsoever.

00:11:54: It just legitimizes these viewpoints as parts of healthy debates whereas...I really don't think they are!

00:12:01: They're way past.

00:12:03: Even if you were to say that was your opinion, I think it was below the pale or beyond the pale.

00:12:09: But when its part of a primetime news programme... ...I think it does legitimise this kind of rhetoric and therefore people- The audience are gonna then believe in maybe speak with their friends & family about it Or share on social media.

00:12:25: And thats how these kinds things spread.

00:12:27: So we're seeing real time Homophobia is returning.

00:12:33: obviously transphobia has been at the forefront of the culture for four years now And I think GB news has definitely played a part in that and also racism anti-immigration sentiment.

00:12:42: There's a lot of it, and i think there are a lot Of moving parts to it but certainly GB News Has played A massive part In kind of legitimizing these viewpoints.And...I Think in turn effectively influencing The nation negatively..

00:12:54: I feel like if they don't do something about this now they're gonna have to come down on this organisation, organisations pulling these tricks and that they are not the only right-wing news channel.

00:13:04: If there don't come them like a tonne of bricks who knows where it is going to lead in future?

00:13:08: The narrative you were talking about here do remember last year or before when Dan Wutton was on GB News.

00:13:16: he started shouting into his YouTube Channel.

00:13:22: He did a whole segment doing put play because it's probably visually amusing to people who've never experienced or seen anything like that.

00:13:30: Whether or not, that is visually amusing.

00:13:32: you couldn't turn around and say put play equals... I don't know.

00:13:35: maybe they're quitting with bestiality but i believe its started there.

00:13:39: remember when a man came on Dan Wooden show said should be put down?

00:13:43: And then there were lulls from the crew in background.

00:13:47: It was a light entertainment show into ads.

00:13:49: They didn't come down within twelve months.

00:13:53: It's the same with their full chest that gay men are more likely to be paedophiles.

00:13:57: Where does this go next?

00:13:59: Exactly, This is my worry.

00:14:02: I look at countries like Turkey for example and what's happening there at the moment And i know That Is The Complete Opposite End of the Scale.

00:14:08: it's very far from where the UK is now.

00:14:11: But who's To Say For Example If Reform Don't Get In?

00:14:16: You Know We Could Be Sliding Down That Scale Very Quickly.

00:14:18: The rise in homophobia has happened really, really fast.

00:14:22: It's really worrying how quickly and often I'm seeing very explicitly homophobic phrases and sentiments shared on social media whether it is from people with blue tics or anonymous accounts.

00:14:34: you know...it can be picked up and spread very quickly online.

00:14:38: we are seeing that happening real time.

00:14:40: so yeah i am not sure where this ends.

00:14:42: thats what worries me massively.

00:14:44: if its not stamped out And if people don't do something about it now, then who's to say where we are in a year time.

00:14:53: Last year that was when all of this kind began and here we're now twelve months later with them calling us pedophiles.

00:15:01: There has been no decision made by Ofkov yet so whos' to say whether they deem it breach the rules or not I would argue is but... They could also turn around saying as part of debate We aren't going to do anything.

00:15:16: even before when they found GB Nooster have breached the walls in a similar way, they haven't put any consequences on them.

00:15:24: They haven't been made to pay a sanction or anything... ...they've gotten away with it because someone has apologised for example and I just think that's not- It isn't fair consequence whatsoever.

00:15:35: Two weeks before.

00:15:36: people might have seen what was said on GB news and believe that who's to say they've seen the apology two weeks later where you're saying actually You know, I didn't mean to cause this offense And it wasn't.

00:15:44: but isn't we meant by yet?

00:15:46: They did The same thing with Alex Armstrong.

00:15:49: I mean a week after Caroline Farrow is on his show.

00:15:52: They willed him out a week later To Say That He Didn't Agree With What Was Said.

00:15:55: and It's A Really Harmful Trope That Is Decades Old and This That and The Other.

00:16:01: and i just thought yeah But It was a week ago that this was said.

00:16:04: Why did nobody challenge it at the time when people were watching?

00:16:08: Because there's been a whole weak sense of people sharing that segment and agreeing with Caroline, so the harm has already been done.

00:16:15: I don't think anything is acceptable beyond an actual tangible consequence.

00:16:20: Alex Armstrong just checking us out.

00:16:22: Is he not gay because one or two Here's?

00:16:27: yeah, it was him.

00:16:28: Yeah Well I find that fascinating.

00:16:30: um i know plenty of...I have for my sins.

00:16:33: uh briefly and not directly with one of the brands but work for a right-wing media organization And there are lot things people say about them organizations which is like oh It can't be as bad As you imagine No!

00:16:46: its loads worse.

00:16:47: Its so much worse Like Be ready For

00:16:50: That!!

00:16:51: And I think There Is A Thing With Gay Men In Particular White gay men Attaching themselves to these organisations.

00:17:00: Look at Milo, think he can't ever pronounce his second name properly.

00:17:04: you know what I mean?

00:17:06: What is it about these people and their proximity... ...to these organisations that there's so potent that draws so many people in to kind of make the The excuses for these organisations, the gay men that they will deploy on-the-air to back up their arguments.

00:17:25: What is going with people?

00:17:26: Why does it happen do you think?

00:17:28: I've been thinking about this a lot because A LOT of reason why i have been campaigning Is trying find those kind answers Because It's something that baffles me as well especially when there are gay men involved And...I seen alot from Alex Armstrong and Darren Grimes who was also gay And they've got quite a few staff members who are gay, and I have been reminded of that throughout this campaign.

00:17:48: But in my personal opinion the gig at GB News is very valuable to them... ...and will do anything to keep it.

00:17:57: perhaps because.. They wouldn't have such kind of success or face-in name on a flagship programme if there were... to try and find employment.

00:18:07: Another outlet, for example you know I think GB News does kind of accept the bottom-of-the barrel as harsh is that mix down absolutely.

00:18:14: it's um... You know i just i just think The journalism there isn't great.

00:18:20: It's quite sloppy.

00:18:21: most of times in Britain calls many Many Times Isn't Journalism?

00:18:24: No And That's another thing As well.

00:18:27: again In my personal opinion Um..I Think a lot Of things I see in terms of left wing journalism are very.

00:18:35: They take their time, they investigate carefully and lay things out flatly.

00:18:39: And there is so much evidence backing up what they say etc.

00:18:42: whereas a lot of the right-wing journalism especially in this current day and age it's just inflammatory culture war saying.

00:18:49: the most insulting thing you know get attention online.

00:18:53: that how these people get famous.

00:18:55: I think its really sad a pathetic thing to do.

00:18:59: I think it makes people, they're just sellouts.

00:19:02: basically They'll sell out their own integrity and community if means that get seat at the table And they get to love shoulders with money.

00:19:11: We know there are a lot of these organisations whether its GB News or any of them like right wing Thinktanks That These People Are Part Of.

00:19:20: A Lot Of Them Are Rubbing Shoulders With Crypto Billionaires And Really Powerful Political Figures.

00:19:26: So I understand why they'd want to, you know pedal this sort of homophobic narrative out if it means that they get to keep that position and they get stay you know pals with the people in power.

00:19:39: but i just think its really sad because keep the seat there in and that's yeah exactly, but That's all it matters to them And I think is pretty obvious as soon as you look at.

00:19:55: a lot of them Contraject themselves.

00:19:58: A lot of time as well.

00:19:59: What they say?

00:19:59: Is just very very hypocritical and i think It literally takes five minutes Of critiquing their output To realize that They don't really believe anything they Say Literally is all for views and For money and The engagement and its the same for most people on this In This kind of sphere especially in UK.

00:20:18: Hard to find anyone with much integrity at the moment on that side.

00:20:22: Or talent,

00:20:23: or talent I'd say When you're dealing with a talent pool in broadcasting The good people aren't going to GB News are they?

00:20:31: As we said earlier That's really interesting thing.

00:20:32: Look on screen.

00:20:33: look at quality of their people Even if now they've been in four K or wherever it is To make them look more glossy than when there was complete joke.

00:20:40: They were picking up the people who were desperate

00:20:42: for work.

00:20:42: Do you ever think If your right wing would have done well?

00:20:47: Not just about you, but me.

00:20:51: Why wasn't I right wing?

00:20:52: They look like sometimes they're having all the fun on them channels and getting their work done.

00:20:56: It's the opposite if you do stuff this way isn't

00:20:58: it?

00:20:58: Yeah i totally agree!

00:21:00: I mean...I have actually had that thought a few times.

00:21:03: I think because I've seen The...I don't want to sound big-headed But feel as though I saw through everything And see how the system works.

00:21:13: If I wanted to just flick a switch and start peddling out this really harmful, horrible rhetoric about every minority... ...I think i could get there in about five minutes because... Any plans too?

00:21:25: But any plans?

00:21:25: Absolutely not.

00:21:26: Unfortunately I value my dignity too much.

00:21:29: Obviously Naira will never do it!

00:21:32: I would rather be poor like.

00:21:33: honestly throughout this campaign I haven't really had any, i've had a couple of outlets reach out to me about.

00:21:40: you know um...I did an interview at Attitude magazine for example and private eye briefly.

00:21:46: uh thank you very much.

00:21:47: You know.

00:21:47: so i have had a few kind of opportunities here and there to get my side out.

00:21:51: but other than that it's been complete radio silence and i think it just says a lot when in that time frame you know Basin Bougie has been hot on LBC.

00:22:00: she's been on talk tv i believe?

00:22:02: She's been down with the youtube show.

00:22:04: So have Caroline Farrow And they're exactly and based in.

00:22:09: Bougie is part of Turning Point UK, she's a part of CPAC UK.

00:22:13: Caroline Thoreau is the Global Campaigns Manager for Citizen Go.

00:22:16: so we have these massive organisations behind them with a lot money as well.

00:22:21: I'm not saying that these two are very rich or well off but it does feel proportionate For me, yeah I see why people do it.

00:22:33: It's an easy avenue to money and fame and success.

00:22:37: getting your voice out there.

00:22:39: but for what is more important are the things that i'm actually saying.

00:22:48: One of the issues I've had throughout it all is how The Campaign has often been misattributed to other people.

00:22:54: Part of my frustration with that, Is that its easy for People To attribute It to someone like The Glaw Project For example Because That's a more convenient Enemy To sort Of fight against?

00:23:04: You know Claiming Its All Politics Or Personal Grievances or Whatever.

00:23:09: But i've tried to keep it Strictly to the facts and try to not keep it, not make it about me.

00:23:18: And in turn a lot of their outlets haven't really put my name in anything.

00:23:22: but The positive side to that is I hadn't really experienced much hate or i haven't even targeted.

00:23:28: you know there hasn't been

00:23:30: any nasty messages?

00:23:32: I've had a few from You Know the odd anonymous account here and There But It Hasn't Been overwhelming at all.

00:23:39: and obviously I think the most hate i've gotten is from the people involved.

00:23:42: to be honest um yes whether that is you know based on bougie or i had threatening dm from alex armstrong up some point uh just before he was willed out to apologize for what caroline farrow said.

00:23:53: What did he say?

00:23:54: A couple of days prior, He threatened to get his lawyers on me because of my video.

00:23:58: Yeah Lord!

00:23:59: That's what i would say about his segment And saying...you know..I basically was calling out The fact that he Is a gay man and Saying how dare he as a gay Man Let these comments go unchallenged?

00:24:09: because that's exactly what happened.

00:24:10: I watched the full segment.

00:24:11: They did delete it from their youtube channel, but i caught It and i watch the entire thing.

00:24:15: There was no sufficient challenge to what caroline forra said in that instance And so you know?

00:24:20: I just went on making my videos as i was.

00:24:21: this Was still early days.

00:24:23: nothing much had really happened.

00:24:24: The off-come investigations hadn't been announced and yeah He popped up in my dms and in my instagram comments To basically say if i didn't stop then his lawyers would be on me and that was my final warning.

00:24:33: And obviously I didn't stop, but i didn't believe that and nothing happened.

00:24:37: there was no legal action There was no correspondence...there's nothing!

00:24:40: And I thought well it just again It goes to show this channel that champions free speech all the time doesn't actually like free-speech when its being used against them effectively..and perhaps a lot of people have tried to speak up.

00:24:55: Another thing which really helps with cases is not in UK anymore And sure a lot of people might say, well why are you even bothering them?

00:25:02: But it's the country that I only left two years ago.

00:25:04: I've lived there my whole life and British... ...I still have friends or family here.

00:25:08: This is something i really care about because I understand influence spreads far and wide.

00:25:13: So its' still something that I hold close to my heart.

00:25:16: but The fact that Im not in UK gives me A little bit more safety Because im NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT ALL And I think that's really kind of worked in my favor because it has given me a kind of protection almost.

00:25:31: So, i do feel A lot more level-headed and safer than if I was in the UK.

00:25:38: when its coming down on you all constantly... I know how people must feel in the U.K just exhausted by it all.

00:25:43: so.. ..I get why people haven't been able to maybe fight as tirelessly!

00:25:50: I've been posting literally every single day for like three months.

00:25:53: I get sick of myself sometimes, but you have to.

00:25:56: You have to keep up the momentum and obviously when you're fighting it kind of solo as i said i'm not part of any organization or anything.

00:26:03: so...I have to Keep Up The Momentum!

00:26:04: And i'm just lucky that It's resonated with people.

00:26:07: and um yeah So I think..it is definitely um strange fighting your country's battle while Not Being In The Country.

00:26:15: But you know, nothing says I can't and i'm very proud of how far it's reached thus far.

00:26:21: You...I think that y-it's fair to say that um..you've taken flat!

00:26:26: You've had to deal with some like abuse from some of the people involved which is so crazy when you're dealing with a broadcast channel and there are people hitting back to you deploying insults that are beyond the pale and very individual.

00:26:40: The gay man involved is messaging you, threatening to sue you which usually means when people do they're not going to sue me.

00:26:49: I think what it says is we exist in a world right now.

00:26:51: You may be in position where our political opinions or opinion on things lots of people agree with us might push out opportunities more right wing have but there's another path for Which is the fence sitting and I saw there was some commentary from you on The Ed Sheeran situation.

00:27:11: I think it's interesting.

00:27:12: as a parallel You're as a person, you may be sat in the south of France but used to love UK.

00:27:18: It's not like your other side-of-the world literally an hour or half way into playing And you'll put yourself On the line for negative attention.

00:27:32: Ed Sheering had the opportunity The right thing without really upsetting too many people and he tried to deploy an exercise of fencing which I think in the world We're about to enter just won't cut it anymore for pop stars four People In The Public Eye, And i Think Some Of Us Are Not Involved Right Now.

00:27:55: but we will be in the future.

00:27:56: In the public debate Because I don't think the public Debate Is Can Remain This Toxic For Much Longer.

00:28:02: what's your take on?

00:28:06: The Ed Sheeran Fence sitting situation.

00:28:10: Yeah, again this is another Situation that I have found very wildering over the past.

00:28:17: obviously three years now This whole Well genocide is what i would call it um...I know some of us will disagree but

00:28:24: I don't think many would.

00:28:25: If the UN calls it a genocide, if all the Genocide scholars... ...the organisations that literally their job is to delve into the Holocaust itself or turn around and call them this a genocide,... ..if non-Zionist Jews are calling this a genocide then i'm going to call it a Genocide.

00:28:41: Exactly yep!

00:28:42: I totally agree.

00:28:43: and uh..I think this may be....well there have been alot of these moments over the past two years where really its turning point for people in terms their activism and speaking out, I think maybe we're on the precipice of that now.

00:29:00: And when such huge figures like Ed Sheeran are being drawn into it all through their own actions then... It's very telling!

00:29:10: We were in an unprecedented time at the moment so i'm not quite sure where its going to go which way is gonna sway but more and more people speaking out in favour of Gaza, because it is so insane to me that people are still struggling.

00:29:32: I just think we've seen so much over the past three years you cannot physically deny and where the power lies, because Macklemore was forced off of the tour.

00:29:49: And that's where all this situation has stemmed from.

00:29:52: so I do think it is very illuminating in a lot ways.

00:29:56: It will wake people up.

00:29:57: as Ed Sheeran is an beloved figure by many.

00:30:00: he isn't my favourite singer but i know there are some family members who love him for example He always

00:30:06: on an Uber

00:30:10: and everywhere.

00:30:13: this situation effectively is going to be unavoidable for many, people who maybe have not paid much attention to it all so far and I think then people may end up choosing a side.

00:30:24: And who's to say which way it sways as i said but yeah...I do think we are on the precipice of something big!

00:30:32: To me its kind of exciting in a way because find their voice and I mean me personally.

00:30:39: i've been outspoken for a long, long time but I don't think i've ever really done it as effectively as i'm doing it now.

00:30:44: And something did switch in me recently where way to communicate with people in the right messaging.

00:30:53: And I think it's obviously finally clicked for me and unlike, Right?

00:30:57: I found my avenue.

00:30:57: I've found my lane is resonating With People.

00:30:59: i want To stick with It far beyond this.

00:31:02: This GB news campaign Obviously taking up a lot of My time and resources at The moment but Is something I Want to carry on For the foreseeable future because There is so much going On In the world especially At The Moment that needs to be out Whether the Ed Sheeran controversy or whether it's what's happening in Turkey, as I said earlier.

00:31:21: There is so much that i want to raise awareness about and if more people kind of wake up to this do start speaking out using their voices...I think It would be a lot easier for us use public pressure effectively.

00:31:36: we've seen that can work.

00:31:37: obviously We have had two offcom investigations open.

00:31:41: So Public Pressure works.

00:31:45: are aware of that, the more effective it will become.

00:31:47: So yeah I've got my fingers crossed for um...I'm very hopeful.

00:31:51: basically from then in future i really hope we see some more progress and kind of win back a little bit because its scary where things are going.

00:31:59: so just want to return to normality in terms of acceptance people not being as openly vile and inflammatory outright attacking people.

00:32:11: I think, yeah where we are at the moment is scary and so... We definitely need more people to join the ranks and speak up alongside us.

00:32:21: Yeah i would totally agree with that.

00:32:23: And do you think your stubbornness?

00:32:25: There's-I read this about you.

00:32:26: You said it yourself.

00:32:27: Your stubbornness Is definitely something That you've really leaned into.

00:32:30: It has really helped!

00:32:30: I have had a hard time throughout my entire life Like letting things go Whether its just petty thing or not But especially in this.

00:32:37: Yeah I'm glad someone relates In this instance, it has absolutely worked in my favor because you know as I said My intention with this wasn't to Unleash like a fully fledged campaign Because i didn't think.

00:32:48: I had the resources for It.

00:32:50: As I said before all of This?

00:32:51: I Didn't have The followers on Instagram or the.

00:32:55: the reach that I Have now so is very much just kind Of talking to my usual audience on TikTok, hoping that maybe a few people would listen.

00:33:02: I was even hoping we'd crack the... I know off-com whenever they release their numbers you have to reach i believe fifty complaints for it to be listed and after first week really worrying about not reaching fifty and wouldn't appear in there just dead in water because nobody had listened.

00:33:19: so when reached that number of one thousand three hundred And it was only because of the reaction I was getting from people involved.

00:33:26: So obviously at beginning, It Was Based on Bougie who... She did originally block me across platforms Because my initial videos about her and how comments.

00:33:36: What she said after first video is just more lying About gay community.

00:33:41: Then it turned targeted.

00:33:42: I started being tagged in videos by her and her mates gay demons and this, that on the other.

00:33:48: And then she went to London Pride and started antagonising people there all in retaliation with blue

00:33:54: hair to try and blend it into.

00:33:56: kind of make you think that she was just like an easy person to speak too?

00:33:59: That would have been a pollin'.

00:34:01: It

00:34:01: wasn't pulling yet.

00:34:03: I woke up one morning.

00:34:04: I think it was a couple days before that content went live.

00:34:06: She's part of this activist group called LBL or London by Londoners.

00:34:11: They tagged me in a little trailer about video which is saying I've heard, I have offended the gay demons.

00:34:18: The LGBBC ITB community or whatever she said.

00:34:23: and then She popped up in the blue wig And was saying you know a t-shirt saying why are so obsessed with me?

00:34:28: And Saying she's a full gay demon.

00:34:30: now she has taken her queer studies... ...and i got tagged In that video With the caption saying Ofcon won't help You Now Liam!

00:34:36: And obviously as I said my stubbornness.. ..I Was like we'll see like we'll see about that, you know maybe that won't help me but I'm certainly not going to let it go because i just can't believe that people are acting like this in twenty-twenty six.

00:34:48: It's absolutely appalling and insane to me.

00:34:51: um and then lo and behold the caroline furrow segment aired two weeks later and it just was a natural progression.

00:34:57: it just kind of kept the ball rolling because more and more people started paying attention than.

00:35:01: obviously bimini very graciously got involved and we spoke behind the scenes shortly after and Bimini was just kind of asking how they could use their platform most effectively.

00:35:12: And came up with the Complaints Generator, which led to... Genius!

00:35:16: ...the record-breaking

00:35:17: numbers we got?

00:35:18: Yeah I know it was like absolutely just the most….

00:35:24: It made absolute sense and The records that we broke were like absolutely unbelievable.

00:35:29: but all down to Biminis' Complaint Generators.

00:35:37: Easy like all my complaints letters.

00:35:39: I'd love that.

00:35:40: and Michael grades Yeah, it was so easy i got.

00:35:45: i loved the design a lot.

00:35:46: yes more of this please.

00:35:47: um michael grade the former boss of the bbc um ITV channel for He said of gb news i don't know if you've read This they're sanctioning them or removing their license is difficult because he believes That there should be A right leaning Media knew looks Like There Is All The Medias Right leaning channel, a right wing channel in the context of like a plurality of different media sources.

00:36:15: I heard that and have sat with them as they say And i spoke to somebody who worked there... I said i've just been at period being contracted by a right-wing media business.

00:36:24: It wasn't on the right wing stuff it was on the fluffy stuff.

00:36:28: Someone there said listen.. I almost think we should occupy this space so that we can have the debate in a measured way because if we don't occupy it, The Crazies will take over.

00:36:40: What do you think about that?

00:36:43: This right-wing stuff needs to have an outlet.

00:36:45: this isn't my opinion and one of those devil's advocate things but yeah then its guided as there is the outlets.

00:36:56: I get that it can't just all be left leaning and i know there has to be viewpoints, different opinions.

00:37:03: And...I do think a lot of what is said or used whether its my opinion does cross the line.

00:37:13: The broadcasting code was set up for reason.

00:37:16: GB Noons when obtaining its license willingly went along with it, and you know they signed up to this process.

00:37:22: And effectively.

00:37:23: I believe they've been found in breach of those rules at least a dozen times which says that all have only been operating for five years.

00:37:29: That's far more than any other news channel one.

00:37:31: i think It just...it says it all!

00:37:33: And uh..I know Michael Great has definitely defended GB News and kind of given reasons for its existence.

00:37:41: why is so important?

00:37:42: but I think there are much more professional ways of doing it.

00:37:45: You know, GB News isn't the only right-leaning outlet out there... ...I would argue that many names can come to my head but perhaps LBC for example?

00:37:54: That's probably a contested opinion.. But I'd say it does lean right at the time.

00:37:58: Yeah!

00:37:58: It does a

00:38:00: bit.

00:38:02: There is a way to have balanced broadcasters and GB News just doesn't fit that remit whatsoever.

00:38:09: And I think many people would agree with me, and now i've seen a lot of comments recently from Chris Banat-Vala who wrote the Ofcoms Broadcasting Code... ...and he has said many times that he doesn't understand why they're being so lenient with GB News.

00:38:22: you know?

00:38:23: There's flagrant breaches.

00:38:26: there aren't any consequences as a result.. ..and when HE is saying it ,the man who wrote code and then like okay at least I'm not crazy, like.

00:38:36: it's definitely a shared opinion by many and I do think you know... It can't all just be one or the other.

00:38:41: You know people can't just have it alright or left as much of some people would like to be but does has to be balanced.

00:38:49: And i get the importance of debate on that and honest conversations in this set.

00:38:55: But again, I don't think GB News does good job really ever!

00:39:03: their panels are skewed heavily towards the right and even if they do have a left-wing person on there, They're often ridiculed or mocked.

00:39:10: And with... If they try to provide challenge it's shot down.

00:39:13: so yeah I would like point blank wouldn't know.

00:39:20: The reason why i wouldn't is because I wouldn't want to legitimize them?

00:39:23: I think I'd go On many different outlets To discuss It um..I'd Even talk face-to-face With the people involved.

00:39:31: It was on a platform that would guarantee A complete, fair and balanced debate.

00:39:36: Whereas if I went on GB News... ...I'm almost certain i wouldn't get that because of the framing And you know.. ..i don't what they'd say about me in the lead-in to my interview or whatever it would be.

00:39:45: So yes no point blank wouldn't go there.

00:39:48: The same goes for places like TalkTV and things Like That Just any of those kind of outlets.

00:39:53: I wouldn't want them to legitimise anything They put out.

00:39:56: Again , I get why people do work There especially journalists Because I know it's a really tough industry.

00:40:01: I mean, I studied journalism will be...I dropped out.

00:40:04: so i never went into the industry.

00:40:05: but..i know its tough!

00:40:07: There is alot of competition actually with the amount of outlets that are being shut down at the moment.

00:40:13: So get why people would want to work there and get why certain left wing panellists might wanna appear on GB news.

00:40:19: For me personally, I just...I wouldn't even consider it.

00:40:22: No?

00:40:23: Oh no!

00:40:23: I think that when you- I've known people who have gone in as panellists on these channels and its never been well for them And i had a boss once

00:40:31: Who..had

00:40:32: alot of experience with those things He said to me about what he brought up Once was like Listen ,i know this seems really appealing because You'll get some clips but nothing good ever comes from there.

00:40:41: They don't have your best interest at heart they want actively too.

00:40:45: If u wanted GB news then would wanna fuck you so

00:40:49: big.

00:40:50: Yeah, Liam I really appreciate the insight and on behalf of everybody who listens to this show.

00:40:57: And the messages that i've been getting and the conversations have been having with friends of mine both in the media just long-time friends of mind we really appreciate your work.

00:41:05: so thank you very much for everything because taking a huge burden is appreciated.

00:41:10: Thank you very much.

00:41:11: Well, thank you honestly I'm like...I couldn't have done any of this without everyone rallying behind me so i think Everyone who has gotten involved and supported Me and spoken up alongside me is just as important.

00:41:21: Honestly it's uh As I said It's been really surreal Really unprecedented But its Just kind Of given me The motivation And the fire To carry on Beyond This.

00:41:32: Yeah Who's to say Where we reach Or where We get too Is a result of this campaign but we've made a stand which is more than I could ask for.

00:41:40: so um yeah no thank you for giving me the chance to speak and uh yeah, Thank You For The Support.

00:41:48: And for saying all of that.

00:41:49: it's very very kind.

00:41:50: It's really lovely to hear just makes me want to keep going.

00:41:53: So Yeah!

00:41:57: Thank

00:42:01: you again!
